Bloomsburg Lacrosse Clinches Playoff Berth In Win Over Shippensburg

BLOOMSBURG- Allison McFatridge (Hatboro/Upper Moreland) scored three goals to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to a 8-7 overtime win against Shippensburg that clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoff berth for the Huskies.
The win was the eighth on the season for Bloomsburg under first year head coach Leah Quigley. The Huskies return to the PSAC playoffs after going 6-6 in the conference and missing a playoff spot last year.
Bloomsburg went into halftime leading 6-3 with two goals by McFatridge and single goals by Mary Chirichella (Petersburg, NJ/Ocean City), Kimberly Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan), Angie Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West), and Beth Stewart (Glenmoore/Downington).
In the second half, Shippensburg tied the game at 6-6 with three back-to-back goals before Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) scored to give the Huskies the lead again, 7-6. Shippensburg's Hannah Sperber sent the game into overtime with two minutes left in regulation play.
During overtime, McFatridge gave Bloomsburg the win with her goal one minute into overtime play. The Huskies would keep the lead for the remainder of overtime.
Kristin Crutchfield led all scorers with four goals and one assist for Shippensburg (7-9, 6-7 PSAC).
For Bloomsburg (8-7, 8-5 PSAC), McFatridge finished with four points on three goals and one assist. In goal, Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) saved 11 shots for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg will host East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the final game of the regular season.
